Unlike the original version of the game, our interviewees are free to answer questions fully so that we can really understand what makes them tick! OK, let’s get to it and see what’s inspiring our team today. 1. What is your go-to trick for staying productive? Listening to Epictetus – Meditation while working. 2. You’re stranded on a deserted island and can only bring 5 movies. What are they? Forrest GumpLove and BasketballThe MatrixHouseguestCast Away (See what I did there) 3. What is the last book you read? From Dude to Dad: The Diaper Dude Guide to Pregnancy by Chris Pegula and Frank Meyer. 4. What do you do at Wrk? My mandate is to enhance the support experience for our Wrkforce Community. I also manage the Customer Support team to ensure we are informing our Product team of insights that will help drive customer self-service and retention. 5. Share one piece of career advice you wish you could give your younger self. Don’t be afraid to shine. Never apologize for being driven. Spend less time diminishing your own light, spend more cultivating your gifts. 6. What is the best way to start the day? Eating something delicious, meditating, and listening to great music. 7. If you could have one superpower, what would it be? Teleportation! I could be at my favourite restaurant in Nashville in like 3 seconds. 8. What is your go-to takeout meal? Sushi!!! Sushi is life!! 9. What is one thing that’s surprised you about working with Wrk? How eager we are to serve everyone; from our clients, to our Wrkforce community, and even our internal teams! Just beautiful. 10. Describe Wrk in 3 words… Community, Empowering, and Ambitious. 11. The best way to spend a Saturday is: Brunch, watching a movie, laughing with my loved ones, and eating some more brunch food. Steve eating something delicious! 12. What is your definition of success? Success for me comes in the shape of balancing quality time with loved ones, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being, and having a steady flow of income. While simultaneously eating delicious food! 13. What is your favourite app? I spend a lot of time on Netflix, so I guess Netflix. 14. When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to turn things around? Go for a walk, talk to my wife and my sisters. Usually, we end up laughing about it afterward. 15. Who are your top 3 dinner guests (dead or alive) and why? Steve Biko: South African anti-apartheid activist who I was named after.Maya Angelou: Because her work continues to influence the black community. Robert F. Smith: Philanthropist that has been giving back to the black community. I just would like to be a part of this very intellectual dinner! I would probably just stay quiet and take notes. 16. What is your proudest career-moment to date? My proudest moment to date is when I helped save an upgrade to a new version of software at my previous role. I was able to troubleshoot the bug and enable the upgrade to go smoothly onsite. This saved the company tons of money and time. 17. What about Wrk fills you with pride? There are lots of reasons to be filled with pride. I’ll start with the obvious ones: The very intelligent and capable individuals here at Wrk.Ambitious goals for the company.Working with my team to help them achieve their vision of success. 18. What is one thing that you’re currently trying to make a habit? Finding 5 things to be grateful for each day. It’s very easy to be negative. I’m trying to be more intentional with my thoughts and exercising my “gratitude muscle” more! 19. What is the best thing about working from home for you? I get to spend way more quality time with the family. 20. What is the best thing about living in Montreal? I met my gorgeous and kind wife in this awesome city! Food is also not too bad.
