Automation Finance Webinar Review: Uncovering Accessible Finance Automation for 2021 Patrick Bourke Mar 19, 2021 3 mins read On Tuesday, March 16th, Wrk CEO and Co-founder Mohannad El-Barachi sat down with four finance experts in a live webinar to discuss the future of finance in 2021. The webinar looked at the ways automation can help finance teams (from early-stage start-ups to banking giants) transition to a more digitally-automated future in 2021 and beyond. You can watch the webinar in full here. The panellists included Nina Silverstone (Fluent.ai), Michael Steinberg (Wavo) Othalia Doe-Bruce (InnovFin) and Robert Di Iorio (RBC). The webinar started off with a common theme that we all have had to navigate during the past 12 months: COVID-19. Despite the obvious challenges of the pandemic and subsequent lockdown, many finance teams have used the last year to regroup and plan for a brighter tomorrow. This anecdote from Nina really caught our eye and ear! Nina explains how some of her clients have used lockdown to upgrade their internal processes with the help of automation. Debunking myths At Wrk, we are committed to removing many of the myths and overtly-technical language that often makes automation unnecessarily complex for those who are not experts in the field. This sentiment was shared by Mohanned El-Barachi, our CEO, during our finance webinar and it really set the tone for the conversation. The tech industry has the ability to both over-simplify and over-complicate terms, and that’s why I asked the question ‘what does automation mean to you?’ I think Michael said it well. So, if it’s gonna save you time and cut your costs then great, that’s automation. Looking to the future of finance automation When it comes to finance automation, there really isn’t any point in looking back. Sharing this mindset, the panellists dug into the potential automation has in 2021. Rob kicked off proceedings here by asking what intelligent automation means and how it can help finance teams provide better service to their clients today. Rob Di Iorio asks how what’s next for automation in the finance space. Is it intelligent automation? Building off of this point, Michael highlighted how important it is that automation is nuanced and flexible enough to complement the nuances of real-life finance teams like his. Typically, I hadn’t seen many hybrid solutions until I saw Wrk last week. What was interesting to me was the flexibility it allowed because it can connect human processes to automated processes and package it all into one thing. Want to Learn More?
